***New Post Feb 12th  1:30 pm
To the Olympic Ski School Customers.  We are all hoping to finish this season with a bang.  I know that this weekend is a school vacation,  but we cannot continue to extend.  We need to make up Saturday and Sunday on the 16th and 17.  We will have the classes, races and BBQ on these days.  Fridays need two make-ups and they will be on the 15th and 22nd of February.   So far a make up for Thursday is scheduled for the 6th of March.

To Students and Parents of Olympic Students

Dear Students and Parents of Olympic Students.  The following is a link to the new information from Stevens pass this year concerning the big Terrain Park only.  It will have a separate pass and cost $5.00 for the season.  It requires a safety class and parent signature for those under 18.  Please read the materials and if interested, full out and send to Stevens Pass.

Mary

To the Olympic Staff

We will have clinics this weekend the 8th and 9th and the next weekend the 15th and 16th.  Times according to the clinic information given on the website.  Please post on the breaking news and instructor information.  I am also attaching things from Stevens pass for the Breaking news.  They are the forms for getting a pass into the Terrain Park this year.

CLINIC PLAN FOR OLYMPIC SKI SCHOOL—DECEMBER 2007

Our clinic plan will follow the same general outline that we followed last year. There won’t be as much mixing and our new recruits will be in their own groups for 3 days. I am asking a large group of our level 3 ski instructors and some level 2 snowboard instructors to aid us in teaching clinics this year.

During week 2, add Rod Towell, Rob and Rick Entrop. If I have missed a good clinic leader, let me know.

Saturday December 1st
Theme for today is STANCE AND BALANCE. Consider this all-important component of snowsports all day in your clinics. First session will be focused on getting back on your equipment, for the new people, giving them confidence and an idea of what they are committing themselves to this winter. In the afternoon, we will review levels I through 4. Again consider Stance and Balance as the most important idea. If you need to, review you levels before you arrive at the clinics.

Level I group goes all day with Dave G. and Kevin O.

The presentation at the hut above the Terrain Park should be showing the safety video all day and throughout our clinics. If your group members are interested in getting certified to run the big part this year, try to find time to go there. The School Yard on the Brooks side of the park will require no separate pass. The charge for the big park is $5.00 per season—you get a separate pass for that.

Please note that there will be a planning meeting for the clinic leaders at 2:24 to 3:30 in the East Lodge on the first Saturday afternoon. We will be talking about our group goals for the rest of the clinics.

Sunday December 2nd
Morning Session will have the EDGEING AND PRESSURE THEME throughout the clinics. We will go over levels 5 through 10 in this morning session. New groups will go as far as the group is able. Level I group continues with Dave and Kevin

Afternoon Session will work the ROTATION theme and work on personal skiing; also focus on the transition between small, medium and large radius turns, as well as, strategies for different snow conditions.

Saturday December 8th
Remember to check-in each day so you will get credit for attending the clinics, recall that this will affect you bonus at the end of the season. Level I group with Kevin and Dave

Morning Session will cover the prepared teaching demos brought by all the members to the clinic. As usual I want a lesson of about ½ hour each for a peer groups, a student group and some progressions the help with difficult student problems

Afternoon Session will continue the teaching demos—but these will be suggested by the clinic leader and be an “on the spot” type of scenario.

Sunday December 9th
Morning Session will feature the traditional Large Group Ski/Board on Hogsback and Chief—we nee to show our colors to the pass—I think our jackets will arrive the week before. We also need some new photos for the website. Maybe a few group demos on chief will be appropriate also.
Break into Groups—review the last three days until lunch.
Level I group has test day with Dave and Kevin

Afternoon Session: Break into interest groups for the afternoon—These are to be determined by staff request and clinic leader suggestion.

I sincerely hope that the clinics go as planned—no delays.

Mary
